The 2024 DKers' Christmas Letters

Greetings,

It's finally here... The DKers' Christmas letter.  Yes I am still counting this as a Christmas letter even though it is a full 3 weeks late. The lateness of this letter may be a sign of things to come. Last year I started out with two firm goals, but this year I have decided to forget that and have lots of loose goals. They almost certainly won't all happen, but I am not going to worry about making timelines or even priortizing. As a result, it is possible nothing will get done at all, or at the very least everything could happen 3 weeks later than ideal, but back to 2024.

Last year, my two goals were to bring back D vs K and to practice 10 times together. We got to practice number 6 in July, but we finished the year off with only 7.5 practices. In order to convince Darren to bring back D vs K, I put in our new brochure as one of the rounds. In order to make the new brochures, we had a photo shoot. We got some great pictures, but unfortunatly, we updated our website in February  right before the photo shoot, and I still haven't gotten around to using any of the pictures for anything other than the brochures. The brochures did turn out great. I spent a lot of time figuring out the word bubbles and found out that most people don't read the words in a brochure, however I still like my little story and the ending, and I think it still works really well even as just a collection of juggling pictures. Back to D vs K, I won and you can watch it here. Also, we put my tic tac toe routine into the regular show right away, and we made some adjustments and put Darren's cigar box magic trick in too. Since I won, I might as well announce next years rounds...   Bag Of Junk, Take My Trick, and New Prop.

We performed 26 shows this year. I always love returning to places we've been before, but I am going to try and comment on some of the more memorable shows. Slate Hill Mennonnite Church made us two giant posters. We got a very warm welcome at the Sunbury Easter Egg Hunt, and I could see this becoming a Church we return to again. We got a very nice email from the photographer at The Fourth of July. We got to perform at the first annual Bacon Fest, however I did not partake in any Bacon Lattes. We also got to perform at KCB Fest and Hope Born in Christ waterslide event on the same day. The most memorable show probably was our two days in Mill Hall, I still can't believe they got us a hotel. Also, if you're interested you can still watch the live stream of our show there. Finally I want to commend Darren on doing a great job balancing the show schedule, especially in the Fall. We were busy, but it never got too crazy this year.

Finally, here are the personal sentences. This year Kevin got really into King Viking as evidenced by this picture of the various King Viking presents(shirt, hat, and flip-o-rama) he got from his kids. Darren also did things, however one of them was not giving me a personal sentence.

Will the Press Start series ever get done? finished?

Rue has a new Mega Mole Girl game to play, and it looks DIFFIUCLT TO DO. . Sunny challenges her to finish the game. In the game, Miss Business has captured all the world's heroes, including Super Rabbit Boy, for her collection of rare treasures. Can Mega Mole Girl rescue the other heroes and save the day?

I am glad you received a nice email from the photographer from The Fourth of July.

On the one hand, nobody did anything about the genocide that was done in Gaza. On the other hand, American Christians did quite a lot to help Bibi and Biden cause all that KILLING TO GET DONE

– Mahmoud Darwish  “The war will end. The leaders will shake hands. The old woman will keep waiting for her martyred son. That girl will wait for her beloved
husband. And those children will wait for their heroic father. I don’t know all those who sold us out, But I saw who paid the price.”

7. 5 practices----Is a half more than nothing?

Is a half when one of your practices without the other one?

The appeal of Niebuhr’s social ethics is clear: it’s the Yankee
pragmatism and “realism”. But its rich pickings for Obama cannot
disguise its profound theological poverty. A loyal two-kingdoms
Lutheran, Niebuhr was completely candid that the ethics of Jesus has
no moral purchase in the realm of power politics. Christ's death and
resurrection…. these facts simply do not factor in the moral calculus
of Niebuhr’s finally quite pagan reading of geopolitics. Hence the
cynical reduction of the option for Christians to either blessing US
military interventions or “doing nothing”
