Abandoned Ideas

Here is a list of ideas we have abandoned.  We have used all of these ideas in at least one show.  I have listed them in order from most likely to remain abondoned to most likely to be added back into the routine.
Pig Chasers

Pig chasers are these things that are shaped like canoe oars and they rattle when you shake them.  We performed at a banquet for a company that used pig chasers, and they asked if we could use them in the act.  We made the fact that we didn't know what to do with the pig chasers the running joke in our act. The first couple things we did with them were really lame, but they got progressively better. Near the end, we passed around four pig chasers just like we do four Frisbees now. Our final pig chaser trick was that we juggled three beanbags back and forth. Each of us had a pig chaser and used it to catch and throw/scoop the beanbags. Although, this will probably never be done again, I am still proud of this. I like being able to tweek a show so that it is unique for an event.

The Brain and the Flame

I would solve a Rubik's cube that was mixed up by someone in the audience in the time it took Darren to juggle torches.  Looking back, this really feels like a silly finale, but we did it for quite a while. A lot of people actually said that they really enjoyed the Rubic's cube, but I don't think it is active enough to be in the show now.  Also, I think at this point Darren can actually solve a Rubic's cube faster than me.

Don't procrastinate and Keep organized - The Show

This was a show for a back to school event.  We wanted to do a school themed show.  We were on the stage two times for 15 minutes shows. In the first show, Darren gave me juggling balls made out of ice because apparently it was a dream of mine.  However, I decided that I would wait to use them until later.  We tried to do our act, but I was so disorganized everything was a jumble and we ended up doing things with mismatched props. Darren got fed up and challenged me to a duel. He won and I agreed to get organized for the next show.

The next show we were organized. Darren had a list of all the things we still had to do, but I found the Frisbees and big balls, so we did that instead. Then I remembered the ice juggling balls. They had melted so I had to use them in my water meteors instead.  At this point we only had a few minutes left, and we had to do all our remaining stuff as fast as possible since we procrastinated so much.

Rings

I bought six rings about ten years ago. We can juggle them, but we never found an interesting use for them.

Bowl Hands

I attached bowls to my hands and juggled. I also tried it with bowls on my feet. I could juggle with one hand and one foot but not very well.

Poi + Juggling

I did this at the Fourth of July.  Basically, I swung poi around while juggling.  I never really mastered it though, and I have barely practiced it at all since that show.  I still think it is a cool idea and hope to work on it some more.

Spiderman

Darren did this at the Fourth of July.  He juggled with a Spiderman mask on the back of his head.  When he faced away from the audience and did behind the back type of tricks, it looked really freaky.  I really liked it, but it doesn’t fit into our normal show very well. I hope we can find a place for it.

Boomwhackers

I really want to be able to play a song on the boomwhackers while juggling.  I learned “Mary Had a Little Lamb”.  Darren and I practiced “Do a Deer” once, but we never quite figured it out. We got too busy with other stuff, and haven’t worked on it. It also may be hard to do for an audience because it is quiet.  I pumped up the volume on the Youtube videos, so check out the links.

Bowling Ball

I got a bowling ball at the Re-Use-it Shop, and learned how to juggle it. This seems like it would be an easy thing to incorporate into a show.

Frying Pan

I can’t believe we haven’t done this more than just once. Actually this trick is all Darren, he juggles a torch, a frying pan, and an egg. At the end, he cooks the egg in the frying pan.
