K Planner

We have three ideas for routines that we are “working” on right now. Routine number one will be very hard to put together. We need to pick a song and put in a lot of practice, but we have already put in a good amount of practice. Routine two will probably require significantly less practice, but we have only practiced once, and by practice I mean fooling around for 15 minutes while convincing ourselves that whipped cream is a legitimate juggling prop. Routine three should involve almost zero practice, but a good deal of prop construction.
I was wondering if any of them will be done in time for the HMS Winter Carnival. This is typically a show where we try out some new stuff. If we don’t finish one of the three ideas, we will have nothing new to show from the past year. I recently told Darren that we’d have two of them ready in time. There is a good chance that I am wrong, and that is ok, but I wonder what that means going forward. I don’t think either one of us will get less busy any time soon. If we continue this pattern of coming up with three ideas we like a year and completing half of one, I can imagine us five years down the line with two new routines and 12 routines that we are “working on.”  This sounds insane, and we would probably end up weeding out ideas, so there wouldn’t actually be 12 routines in progress at once. I don’t want to take that chance though, so I am going to see what I can do to make sure we get two done this year.

I have tried using planners/organizers in the past, but I have never really been able to stick to them. Since I haven’t been writing much on K Anything, I have decided to turn it into my planner for at least a month. I don’t think that this will be too interesting, but I also assume I am talking to myself. Anyway, the only routine that I can finish without Darren is routine number three. Here’s the plan.

October:      Buy materials and write a script/outline including a twist ending.
         November:   Build the prop.
December:   Practice/change all the stuff that Darren vetoes
         January:      Show

That’s one routine down, and hopefully one of the other two will come together in time as well.
