The Community Show Outline

This is an idea for a show I had a while back. The starting idea was that we always had trouble figuring out what to say during the bits in between juggling. My proposed solution was to embrace the fact we didn’t know what to say. Here is a quick outline of it. Hopefully it makes sense.

After introducing ourselves, I would say that I was intimidated by the large audience, so I didn’t know where to look. I would go on a mini-rant about not knowing where to look when talking to one person so how could I deal with a huge crowd.  Darren would suggest I wear sunglasses.

·         Ball Juggling Routine  - “Past My Shades” by B.o.B.
When we finish the ball routine, we decide we don’t like the sunglasses. I still want to limit the talking. I talk about how people don’t want to hear us talk, they don’t even want to hear their friends talk.  We talk about giving people head nods instead of actually interacting. I give the sound guy a head nod and the music come on.

·         The All Falls Down Routine – we do hats, ball stealing, ladder, and club passing

I try to start the next routine with a head nod. Darren won’t allow this. We get into a duel.

·         Devilsticks –“Dueling Banjoes”

I win the duel, so now we are not going to talk. Darren tell me that since I don’t want to have any interaction with anyone I can do the show alone.

·         Big Ball Solo – “I Can Do It Without You (But It Wouldn’t Be Very Good)” by Kaiser Chiefs

Darren comes back to help

·         Big Ball Together – “Big House”

We explain the moral. Community is good. We talk about the early church in Acts 2:42 “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer… And all those who had believe were together and had all thing in common.”We then do the last routine together.

·         Diabolo – “Joyful Joyful”

It’s time for the finale.

·         Fire and Plungers

That's the basic idea. It is kind of short, but it would be easy to add stuff into it.
